Egypt: Mummification

Updated: Mar 15, 2019

Here's another blog about Egypt. This blog will be about Egypt's ritual for dead elite members, also known as embalming. Everyone received some type of embalming, it just depends on how well is was done. For the poor people, they clean the belly with purge and keep the body for 70 days of natron treatment. They then return the corpse to the family. For the elite class, they draw out the brain from the nostril. They then draw out all the contents in the belly and clean it with spices. They then fill the belly with spices and sew it back together. The corpse receives 70 days of natron treatment and then gets wrapped with fine linen.
